Biography

Education:  

• B.S., Syracuse University (Biology)
• Ph.D., Iowa State University  (Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology, within the Department of Zoology and Genetics)
• Currently pursuing an Associate of Arts degree (Ventura College)

After earning her doctorate, Mary worked for 30 years, first in academia as a biochemist, then transitioning to industry, where she contributed to the development of cutting-edge cancer treatments.

She is married to her best friend and collaborator, Mike. The couple has two beautiful, accomplished, grownup daughters, and have resided in Ventura, CA since the early 1990’s. 

Mary was motivated to pursue her passion for design and sculpture following participation in a ceramics workshop in Ojai. Her designs explore the intersection of nature, science, and technology. She works in media that permit her to create in three dimensions, including ceramic sculpture and 3D printing.
